Road Trip

A couple weekends ago the boys and I sent Daddy off to San Diego to visit Uncle Jay and took a little road trip out to visit Great-Gpa T!

The drive there went pretty well - Turner slept the first hour, played for the next hour and a bit and cried on/off the last 20 min - pretty good for a 6.5 month old; Carter on the other hand took an hour to fall asleep (note: about exactly the same time TW woke up Carter fell asleep, so they never slept at the same time - classic for them!) then woke up to TW's cooing about 30 min later - but was happier than a clam watching Bob the Builder the rest of the way.

Our time in Holdrege was super fun- we got to hang out with Gpa and Judy and even see Mary and Mike for a meal too! Saturday morning while Gpa took care of entertaining the boys, Judy taught me how to can peaches and make salsa! This woman is incredible in the kitchen and a very good teacher!!! Thanks again, Judy!! And thanks to Gpa for watching the boys! The evenings were filled with Olympic viewing- opening ceremony and all! We missed most of the second night due to a slight technical error - but I had fun helping Gpa fix it, so it wasn't a complete loss =)
Saturday afternoon after naps we took a drive into Kearney and visited our good friends, the Denneys! It was fun to re-connect the kids. The boys had fun playing with their boys (Evan, Bryce & Kellen) and little girl, Hadley too! After they treated us to pizza and soda (a rare treat for Carter) we headed back to Holdrege!

Sunday the boys treated me to sleeping in - yay!!! And then after hanging out in the morning and a delightful lunch with Gpa, Judy, Mike and Mary we headed home around nap time again! Turner fell right to sleep and napped for the first hour, however this time was only content to "play" about 10-15 minutes after his nap and proceeded to cry for the rest of the trek! Yikes that was a long 1.5 hrs! I tried stopping (mainly b/c I had to use the bathroom - that was a fun adventure itself taking 2 boys into a public restroom!!!!), but that only made it worse so I just drove on. Carter did ok watching Bob and then finally passed out in the midst of TW's screams about 30 min from home. Then TW passed out a few blocks from home, wow! Not sure I'll be driving too far w/o Todd anytime soon, we'll see!

Here are the pictures, what you really wanted to see/know about the trip!!!

TW with Gma Judy!
TW worn out from the drive cuddling with G-Gpa T.
