Extreme Makeover: Bouncy Seat Edition

The rowdy blue bouncy seat worked out fine for this little guy.....

and his little brother didn't seem to mind it either....

but this little girl was beggin' for a change
{or maybe that was her momma talking}....

Makes me sort of wish she was here to put in it already!!

I didn't set out for it to match her nursery bedding, but I bought way too much material for that project, so yes you're seeing the same patterns here!  It was a doozy of a project, but I thought it turned out quite nice.  I'm hoping little Maryn from down the street will come over and try it out for me - just to make sure it's ready for our little Miss to use (who knows if momma will be sewing much after she arrives!).

A big thanks to Papa for helping change the legs from blue to white - I think this will fit her quite nicely.

More girly projects to come....

First buys

Recently the boys received an early Halloween greeting card from Nana & Papa containing a $1 for each of them.  Up until this time Todd & I had always taken cash from Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, etc. and put it straight into the bank for them, but we decided this time to let them pick something out for themselves.  Going forward we are trying to come up with a game plan to encourage saving, giving and learning to spend some too!! {Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!}

Surely this story would better with pictures, but alas I didn't take my camera along to Target.  At first it took a while for them to understand what all $1 could (or better could not) buy.... but finally we found a few areas that had items in their price range!  Carter first picked out Halloween Peeps then convinced his little brother to buy those and then share with him - smart kid!  Turner was happy to oblige.  He then found a small Snoopy (though he had no clue who Snoopy was) notebook in the dollar spot and has thoroughly enjoyed writing in it every day since!  Turner was delighted with the Peeps and asked unceasingly if he could have one all day until he finally resigned to eating some veggies with his dinner so he could.

Thanks Nana & Papa for the money and giving us an extra long fun shopping trip to Target!

p.s. So Todd informed me the notebook has the a Smurf on it, not Snoopy - whoops, either way Carter didn't know the character and maybe his momma didn't know either ;)

Coming soon....

No, not the baby YET!! She'll be here before we know it though!!

Before that, hopefully less than a month from now, Todd's new dental office - RIDGE POINTE DENTAL is going to open!  We couldn't be more excited, we are so humbled by the opportunity and just plain antsy to see what God has in store for our family through this venture.  This week the walls were painted and from here on out things are going to come together fast (so they tell us and we hope they're right!).

Todd's been keeping extremely busy meeting with all sorts of suppliers, getting supplies, equipment, uniforms and everything else ordered, tracking progress on the building project, etc. etc. etc., all the while continuing to work his THREE other jobs (he did drop his Thursday afternoon gig a couple weeks back, so it's been nice to have one afternoon a week devoted to the office) and still taking care of the boys and their ever-so-needy momma!!!  He's also keeping me plenty busy working on marketing, HR, and other things on the "business" side  (I knew that business degree would come in handy one of these days!!!).  We are having fun, but ready to see some of this hard work start to pay off!!!

If you want to see more pictures, you can visit our facebook page here!

Also, be sure to check out our new website (designed by my brother, Justin):
AND if you need an appointment call 402/261-5213!!!
(for the next couple of weeks yours truly will be your helpful scheduler)

We are so thankful to everyone for their support, prayers and encouragement over the past year - it's been amazing to see God work in all of it.

More to come!

Happy 4th Birthday, Savannah!!

Today is Carter's dear friend, Savannah's birthday!!
He's pretty excited for her and (after I showed him his videos from the past two years!) wanted to sing her the birthday song!

** This has become a tradition for us, you can see him in 2008 here and 2009 here!

Have a great day, Savannah!
We love you!

A visit from Captain Underpants

From the beginning of Turner's potty training I kept telling him that Captain Underpants was coming to visit him, however I didn't really have a plan or follow-up for this promise.  Then as we were getting desperate we decided to tell him we would buy him a Buzz Lightyear toy if he got it all figured out and used this as motivation.  Somehow this evolved into Captain Underpants bringing Buzz Lightyear.  Not long after my last Potty Training post, the Teba decides he gets it and no longer requires diapers (except for nighttime) - WOOHOO!  At this point both boys began asking when Captain Underpants was coming... oh my what was I going to do to fulfill such lofty promises??!

Getting the Buzz figure was easy, now what to do about Captain Underpants.  At first I was working on convincing Todd to dress up and make a video, but that was going to seem a bit weird, so on Saturday morning (ready to move on!) I told Carter he was going to be Captain Underpants and make his little brother's day.

{Thankfully he's a bit modest so I didn't get a great shot of him in costume}

A video of Captain Underpants delivering the big Buzz Lightyear to Turner.  I prepped Carter with a few things to say, but I think he got a little camera shy.

{And here's the happy recipient who has decided that wearing unders all the time is fun}

Off to enjoy not buying or changing diapers for the next three months....

Nursery Makeover

Above you'll see a couple of pictures of how Carter's nursery looked (first at our house in Kearney, then in Lincoln at our current house).  Turner had the same look for a while, but then I decided to make it "boyish" and turned to an airplane theme (surely there are pics of it somewhere, need to keep searching for those).  But as soon as we learned we were having a girl, I knew I wanted to switch things up and something about having a girl inspired me to SEW, SEW, SEW.... this is the first part completed - bumper pads.

More to come,
