First buys

Recently the boys received an early Halloween greeting card from Nana & Papa containing a $1 for each of them.  Up until this time Todd & I had always taken cash from Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, etc. and put it straight into the bank for them, but we decided this time to let them pick something out for themselves.  Going forward we are trying to come up with a game plan to encourage saving, giving and learning to spend some too!! {Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!}

Surely this story would better with pictures, but alas I didn't take my camera along to Target.  At first it took a while for them to understand what all $1 could (or better could not) buy.... but finally we found a few areas that had items in their price range!  Carter first picked out Halloween Peeps then convinced his little brother to buy those and then share with him - smart kid!  Turner was happy to oblige.  He then found a small Snoopy (though he had no clue who Snoopy was) notebook in the dollar spot and has thoroughly enjoyed writing in it every day since!  Turner was delighted with the Peeps and asked unceasingly if he could have one all day until he finally resigned to eating some veggies with his dinner so he could.

Thanks Nana & Papa for the money and giving us an extra long fun shopping trip to Target!

p.s. So Todd informed me the notebook has the a Smurf on it, not Snoopy - whoops, either way Carter didn't know the character and maybe his momma didn't know either ;)
